LOOK AT THE SIZE OF HIS HEAD!
Brad Penny was released by the Sox a few days ago, and was picked up by the San Francisco Giants who are in the midst of a playoff battle between the Rockies and Dodgers. In Penny's first start in the Bay, he threw 8 scoreless innings shutting down the Phillies, of all people. The defending world champ Phils were baffled by Penny, which raises this question : Is the National League THAT much worse than the AL or did Penny (and Smoltz) get his mojo back?
Either way, the Red Sox haven't done too bad without Smoltz and Penny, as they ended a series with the Rays tonight taking 2 out of 3 at the Trop. Surprisingly, the Sox have won 2 games at the Trop in all of last season, and they matched their win totals from last season with the win tonight. The Rangers are idle tonight, so the Sox gain a 1/2 a game in the Wild Card.
Speaking of the Rays, they sent their one pitcher that has been there since the inception of the organization into the league, Scott Kazmir, to the LA Angels of Anaheim.

Kazmir has been the ace of the Rays for years, and was just sent off to LA for practically nothing. If I were Scott, I'd feel a little bit dicked by the Rays that they would just ship me off like that. While he may not be as good as he was in the past years, he is still a very solid arm that will give the Angels an even better rotation.
Right now, i will give you my playoff predictions. You can take em or leave em, but i think im pretty damn right...as always.
